Senator Steve Cwodzinski chief authored MN Senate Bill #1557. But you can call it by its nickname, The Vote16 Bill.
Rep. Cwodzinski introduced and read The Vote16 Bill on Feb 17, 2025.
If passed, this constitutional amendment will allow Minnesota school districts to lower the voting age to 16 for school elections.
What's this all mean?
Minnesota's tax-paying teens would finally have a voice in the community that affects them most—their schools.
For the first time in state history, these disenfranchised voters would gain representation as a result of their taxation.
